Vincent S. Proce was born in Chicago in October of 1968. He started his professional career as a graphic artist at 16. From his earliest memory, Vincent has always known what he wanted to do when he grew up. Being the son of an artist, most of his traditional skills came from his first and greatest art teacher, his father Robert Proce.
Vincent worked as a graphic artist and illustrator for 8 years until other interests drew him away. After drifting for a few years he started working for Comico Comics in Chicago. Comics were ideal for him because of his love of storytelling and sequential art.
During his stint in comics, Vincent was married and had his first son. This forced him to find employment that was more lucrative in the animation industry.
Vincent was hired at Startoons Animation studio in 1997. While there, Vince learned patience and discipline and through this experience, he grew both mentally and artistically.
Vincent showed a natural ability to animate and became an animation director within two years. When an opportunity arose to travel to India and train students at Startoons sister studio in Hyderabad, Vincent jumped at the chance. He packed up his family and moved to India for a year. While there, he trained 80 students with no previous animation experience to become animators. He also helped manage the Hyderabad studio and was the liaison between the American and Indian teams. One year after Vincent's return to the states Startoons went belly up and Vince explored other opportunities.
It was not long before Vincent was hired at Midway Games in November of 2001. He was the first full time 2d concept artist hire at Midway. While there, Vincent has helped define how concept art is utilized at Midway. He also helped build a team as a central core group that services all of Midways game teams' worldwide. Vincent was promoted to Visual Art Director in 2008. He then decided to make a lateral move in 2009 and was hired at Vogster Entertainment to visually direct an unannounced video game project.
Vincent currently does regular freelance work for Magic the Gathering and D&D some of which is displayed on this site.
Vincent did a presentation at the 2006 Game Design Conference with Midways studio Art Director, Chip Sineni on conceptualizing for next generation platforms called “Creating Photo-real People who don't exist”.
When Vincent isn't creating he likes to spend his time hanging out with his best friends Jennifer and Zack. |
